How Did DHL Improve Pedestrian Safety and Warehouse Traffic Management at Oakdale Industrial Estate?
Client Brief
DHL required a warehouse safety solution for its supply centre at Oakdale Industrial Estate. With a constant flow of incoming and outgoing stock, the facility experiences significant forklift and pedestrian traffic throughout daily operations.
The client needed a solution that would provide clear separation between pedestrians and vehicles, improve site organisation, and protect critical infrastructure such as forklift charging stations and cool room staging areas from accidental damage.
Assessment
Following a site assessment, it was evident that pedestrian safety and traffic management were critical priorities. The facility also required designated charging areas and pallet staging zones that could withstand the demands of a busy logistics environment. Durable infrastructure and long-lasting line marking were required to maintain safety, visibility, and organisation throughout the site.
Outcome
To minimise the risk of pedestrian and vehicle collisions, we manufactured and installed several hundred lineal metres of Defender Post and Rail Barrier, complete with corresponding pallet protection angle. The barriers were installed alongside pedestrian walkways and around workstations located on the warehouse floor, creating a clear physical separation between people and moving forklifts.
Several hundred lineal metres of epoxy line marking were also installed throughout the facility. Prior to application, the warehouse floor was shot blasted to ensure maximum adhesion and long-term durability. The line marking was used to clearly define pedestrian walkways, forklift charging bays, and pallet staging areas within the multimillion-dollar cool room.
To further protect key infrastructure, pallet protection angle was installed alongside walls and charging stations, reducing the risk of damage caused by forklift impacts and improving overall site safety.
The completed installation delivered a safer, more organised warehouse environment while helping DHL protect both personnel and critical assets.
Key Points:
• Enhanced pedestrian safety through physical separation barriers.
• Durable epoxy line marking for long-term warehouse organisation.
• Protected charging stations and walls from forklift impact damage.
• Improved traffic flow and operational efficiency throughout the facility.
