How Did Manhattan Body Corp Prevent Oversized Vehicle Damage in a Residential Strata Driveway?

Client Brief

Manhattan Body Corp required a traffic management solution for a residential strata complex experiencing ongoing damage from oversized delivery vehicles. The driveway was narrow, with limited turning space, causing larger vehicles to collide with the corners of residential walls.

The client needed a height restriction solution that would prevent unsuitable vehicles from entering while still allowing emergency services to access the site when required.

Assessment

Following the site assessment, it was clear that a standard fixed height clearance bar would not meet the client’s requirements. While it would help alert oversized vehicles, it could also prevent ambulances, fire trucks, or other emergency vehicles from entering the complex.

Outcome

PWS designed, manufactured, and installed a custom post-mounted height clearance bar with a lockable swivel point and handle built into the centre mounting post.

This allows the height clearance bar to remain in position during normal daily operations, clearly warning oversized vehicles before entering the narrow driveway. When emergency access is required, the bar can be unlocked and swivelled out of the way, allowing ambulances, fire services, or other authorised vehicles to enter the site safely.
